Below is the picture of a Dominican Rite Solemn High Mass at St. Benedict's, McKenzie Bridge, OR, which is still a retreat center staffed by the Western US Dominicans, located near central Oregon, in the woods.

Here, the Deacon is proclaiming the Gospel, the Subdeacon holding the Gospel Book, and two of the servers holding candles for the Gospel.  The thurifer can be partly seen behind the Deacon, swinging the thurible.

Interesting. The servers are not wearing surpices or albs. The absence of a thurifer means this is a second or third class feast, so they should be wearing suprices. I suppose this was a capitulation to warm weather at McKenzie Bridge. Also swinging the thurible is a Romanism. We just hold it full chain expended with now swinging durning the Gospel. The swinging would be a distraction during the rite. Our rite avoids distractions whenever possible.
