Ordo for 1962 Dominican Rite Breviary Available

Through the kindness of our friends at Breviarium S.O.P., I am pleased to make available a 2014 Ordo for use with the Dominican Rite Breviary.  It may be purchased here.

I also remind readers that the Dominican Rite Calendar for 2014 is also available for download (free) on our left sidebar.  This calendar has been recently corrected and expanded.

Do the St. Joseph provence friars use this breviary?

Sam,

No Province of the Order uses the old Dominican Breviary. The Order adopted the Roman Rite in 1969 and so uses the Liturgy of the Hours with special propers for Dominican saints.

On the other hand, since Summorum Pontificum and Universae Ecclesiae a friar may fulfill his Breviary obligation when reciting privately by using the Latin 1962 Dominican Breviary (but not by using the 1967 English version).

Does the 1962 version have propers for Dominican saints? Or, what's the difference between Dominican Rite and Dominican propers (of 1962)?

The Dominican Rite Breviary of 1962 has all the Dominican saints celebrated in 1962, so it includes "the propers."

In 1983 revised texts for Dominican saints for use with the Post-Vatican-II Liturgy of the Hours (now used by the whole order) were published for use with that Novus Ordo Liturgy of the Hours. They are the modern Dominican saints' propers.
