Dominican Rite Solemn Mass, Feast of the Transfiguration, Portland OR

Solemn Dominican Mass at Holy Rosary
On this Sunday, August 6, because of the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, the usual 11:00 a.m. Dominican Rite Missa Cantata at Holy Rosary Priory Parish, Portland OR, will be replaced by a Solemn High Mass. The celebrant will be Fr. Ambrose Sigman, O.P., assisted by Frs. Gabriel Mosher O.P., and  Augustine Thompson, O.P., as deacon and subdeacon,

The music will be provided by Cantores in Ecclesia under the direction of Blake Applegate, who will sing the proper chants from the Dominican Gradual.

Holy Rosary is located at 375 NE Clackamas St, Portland, OR 97232, and there is ample parking.  A reception will follow the Mass in Siena Hall. We will return to the usual Missa Cantata at 11 am on Sunday August 12.

I enjoy your blog articles very much. I found your comments on the habit of the Third Order Dominicans very interesting. You say that they do not wear the habit because previously the Tertiaries weren't married. However, are you aware in the Rule of 1923 it states :

​At public functions, Tertiaries, with the consent of the local Ordinary, may wear the full habit of the Third Order, or some particular insignia, according to local custom. But, if they take part collectively, they shall have their distinctive insignia, and walk after the cross of the Fraternity.

I was wondering if you had thoughts on this?
